US firm McGladrey & Pullen has acquired
RSM McGladrey from H&R Block, including its employees, assets
and infrastructure.
The combined entity will operate as a
partner-owned firm under the name McGladrey.
Since 1999, McGladrey & Pullen and RSM
McGladrey have operated under an alternative practice structure in
which McGladrey & Pullen provided audit services and RSM
McGladrey provided other accounting, tax and consulting
services.
McGladrey is the largest US firm outside the
Big Four with 7,000 employees in more than 80 offices.
Joe Adams has been named managing partner and
chief executive and Mike Kirley is the chief
operating officer.
“As a reunited firm, we can effectively and
efficiently provide our clients with seamless access to world-class
resources to drive their success,” Adams said.
Other national leaders include chief financial
officer Doug Opheim, assurance national leader Jim Morton, tax
national leader Jeff Johannesen and business consulting national

Five regional leaders, Bill Gorman, Tom
Ferreira, David Shane, Kevin Prien and Don Natenstedt, have also
been named.
In the past 18 months, McGladrey opened a
national tax office in Washington, DC, realigned to its business
consulting services.
