KPMG Botswana has appointed Gosego Motsamai, its first female partner, as its managing partner.
Motsamai joined KPMG Botswana in 1998 as an audit trainee and became an advisory partner in 2014. She is one of only two female partners within Big Four firms in the country.
According to the International Accounting Bulletin’s World Survey 2019, 15.51% of partners were female in Africa. Female staff made up 35.06% of total staff across the continent.
As well as her experience at KPMG, Motsamai has served in the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) Council in various capacities and in a number of sub-committees. She is currently president of the BICA Council.

KPMG South Africa Chairman Wiseman Nkuhlu said: “She is passionate about the development of the accounting profession in Botswana and continuously mentors and supports young aspiring professionals in qualifying as Chartered accountants.”
