Baker Tilly International US member firm Mountjoy & Bressler has merged with Chilton & Medley to form one of the largest regional practices in Kentucky.

The new firm will be called Mountjoy Chilton Medley and has more than 100 CPAs and 200 professionals.

It will provide services in audit, tax, management advisory services, corporate finance, IPO services and litigation support, among others.

The firm specialises in providing services to industry sectors including real estate, construction, automotive, manufacturing, health care, financial services and the public sector.

Mike Mountjoy and Diane Medley will serve as managing partners.

“This is a marriage of equals,” Medley said. “These are two excellent firms with long track records of client service and community involvement. It’s a perfect match.”

Mountjoy said the partnership will bring together the best practices of two large local firms and will benefit clients.

“Over the years we have considered a variety of options to improve services to our clients and grow our firm,” he said. “As with most businesses, we have considered merger and acquisition as one of the options.”

Mountjoy & Bressler was founded in 1980, has more than 100 employees and offices in four Kentucky locations: Louisville, Lexington, Covington and Frankfort.

Chilton & Medley was founded in 1988, has 11 partners and more than 95 employees

“As a result of this merger, our clients will have access to professionals with diverse areas of specialisation, dedicated to our clients needs,” Medley added.

“Clients will still work directly with the same person they have always worked with, but now we’ll have internal contacts to help with issues we might not have been able to in the past.”

In the most recent International Accounting Bulletin US survey, Baker Tilly International was placed as the second-largest network of independent firms with a combined fee income of $1.25 billion in the year to 30 June 2008.
