Grant Thornton US has acquired Dallas-based IT
consulting and software solutions company Avalion Consulting.
The transaction falls under Grant Thornton’s
Business Advisory Services (BAS) group and is of particular
importance to Grant Thornton’s governance, risk, compliance and IT
practice due to Avalion’s patented Software as a Service (SaaS)
solution.
The SaaS solution is a technical foundation
for a process-based approach to governance, risk management and
compliance requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
compliance, internal audit and enterprise risk management.
Grant Thornton said the new software will enable its clients to
manage their compliance processes more efficiently and
effectively.

Michael Bennett said clients will now be able to solve business
challenges with IT-enabled solutions – particularly as market
conditions improve and they begin to undertake major change
initiatives to renew technology infrastructure and core business
capabilities.
