Grant Thornton has appointed David Campbell as
chief executive at its Johannesburg office.

Campbell predicts significant growth potential
in Johannesburg for the firm with growth opportunities “through the
provision of non-audit services, including internal audit,
management consulting, corporate finance and tax advisory
services.”

“Future goals for the firm are to build
critical mass and to grow our service offering to dynamic
organisations – listed companies, large privately held businesses
and private equity backed organisations” said national chairman for
Grant Thornton South Africa Leonard Brehm.

Campbell, who was a member of Grant Thornton’s
UK national leadership board from 2008 to 2010, will take up the
new role early next year.

A recent merger in South Africa affecting the
Cape Town and Port Elizabeth offices has effectively tripled the
size of Grant Thornton in the cape region. The mid-tier network is
looking to double its revenues worldwide to $8 billion by 2015.
