Kerry McDonald has been appointed independent
chairman at Grant Thornton New Zealand.

Grant Thornton said this is the first time one
of the five largest global accounting firms in New Zealand has
appointed an independent director as chairman.

McDonald has experience working in a variety
of positions and projects in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, North
America and South East Asia.

“We believe that bringing an external view to
the board table is a major and necessary step as we develop our
business in New Zealand,” Grant Thornton New Zealand chief
executive Wayne Jackson said.

McDonald holds a number of directorships and
roles including chairman of Opus International Consultants and
deputy chairman of the New Zealand Institute of Economic
Research.
