Grant Thornton International has appointed
Corporacion Dbrag as its new member firm in Ecuador as of 1 May
2011. Ed Nusbaum, CEO of Grant Thornton International, describes
the new affiliate as an important addition to the network’s
presence in the Latin America.
“Latin America is one of the fastest
growth regions for Grant Thornton and the appointment of Grant
Thornton Ecuador is another example of our strategic investment
plans to build the global organisation in key emerging locations,”
Nusbaum said.
Grant Thornton did not have a member firm in
Ecuador since its former affiliate moved on four years ago.
Meanwhile, Corporacion Dbrag, which was founded in 1996, had no
international representation after leaving the Moore Stephens
International network in September 2010.
Grant Thornton Ecuador will provide
assurance, tax and advisory services to domestic and international
clients. The firm is led by Maria de los Angeles Guijarro, has 130
staff, including seven partners, and operates from four offices in
Quito, Guayaquil and Manta. It is expected to contribute about 4 to
5 percent to Grant Thornton’s Latin American revenues.
“We picked this firm because it is highly
respected locally, its size and reputation makes it a top player in
the Ecuadorian market and we liked its compatibility with the Grant
Thornton vision and values,” said Javier Martinez, Grant Thornton’s
regional marketing director for the Latin Americas and Caribbean
region.
With 130 professionals, it is definitely one
of the most important accounting and audit practices in
Ecuador.”
De los Angeles Guijarro explains that “being part of Grant
Thornton will help us to improve our service levels and position in
the market as well as provide international assignments and
secondment opportunities for our staff.”
