Grant Thornton International said its Belgium member is to leave
the network following an acquisition by Ernst & Young
(E&Y).
Grant Thornton International chief executive Ed Nusbaum said the
decision does not come as a surprise.

“We have been considering our options in
Belgium for some time as it relates to delivering on the global
strategy and it has become quite clear that Grant Thornton
Belgium’s ambitions do not lie in the same direction as ours,” he
said.

Nusbaum said the network plans to
maintain its presence in the country and will now focus on finding
a replacement firm.

“We share a mutual aim with Grant Thornton
Belgium to separate on amicable terms and wish all the best to our
exiting partners and staff,” he added.

In 2011Grant Thornton lost its Danish member
to PwC.
