Deloitte Middle East has launched an indirect
tax practice to be headed by Deloitte UK senior partner Justin
Whitehouse.

Whitehouse, who is currently in charge of
Deloitte’s London indirect tax practice, will relocate to Deloitte
Middle East’s international tax centre.

Deloitte’s indirect tax practice provides
advice and solutions to clients facing indirect tax issues such as
landfill tax, the climate change levy and insurance premium tax,
along with providing specialist groups that advise on global basis
dealing.

“This new practice brings yet more added value
to the wide scope of Deloitte’s tax services in the Middle East,”
Whitehouse said.

“Together with the indirect tax practice team,
we look forward to upholding Deloitte’s reputation for delivering
best in class services.”

Deloitte Middle East partner in charge of tax
Nauman Ahmed said the launch of the service line is another
important milestone for the firm to capitalise on the indirect tax
opportunities of the region.

The initiative follows Deloitte’s launch of an
international tax centre of excellence in Dubai in 2009 as part of
its continued commitment to support clients with tax services in
the Middle East.
