Deloitte Financial Advisory Services has acquired a stake in
Barrasso Consulting, a New Jersey-based firm specialising in
planning and executing litigation discovery programmes, as well as
assisting companies in the efficiency of file organisation.

As part of the agreement, 80 Barrasso employees will be fully
integrated within Deloitte FAS forensic and dispute services
practice and will form a new document review services team.

Deloitte FAS said the acquisition completes the broad range of
discovery services the firm offers, including all aspects of
electronic discovery, document review, complex forensic
investigations and analysis.

Deloitte FAS chairman and chief executive Frank Piantidosi said:
“Advances in business technologies have made it easier and less
expensive for companies to create, share and keep information
throughout their organisation. At the same time, the sheer volume
of this information makes preservation, review and collection of
documents in a complex business dispute or regulatory investigation
a considerable task. Acquiring Barrasso Consulting will enhance our
existing suite of discovery services and our ability to help our
clients in this challenging area.”

Barrasso founder and president Diane Barrasso joins Deloitte FAS
and will act as a principal and national service line leader of the
document review services team. She has 19 years of litigation
process management experience. Jean Weir, a senior Barrasso
manager, will also join as a director.

Deloitte FAS national leader of forensic and dispute services
practice Greg Swinehart said: “[Barrosso] has built a successful,
growing business with a proven client service track record in
document preservation, review and collection, which will be a
tremendous complement to our existing forensic and dispute services
practice.”

Barrasso added: “Deloitte FAS has been a leader in the forensic and
dispute marketplace and we are thrilled to become part of this
world class organisation. We look forward to working with our new
colleagues and tapping into the deep industry knowledge, technical
expertise and global network of Deloitte FAS.”
