Barry Salzberg will take over from Jim Quigley as global
chief executive of Deloitte in June.
Salzberg is the chief executive of Deloitte US and led the
world’s largest firm through a challenging economic
period. Under his watch, Deloitte completed the high profile
acquisition of BearingPoint’s North American government
practice and began work on Deloitte University, a $300
million learning and development facility that will
open later this year.
“I am humbled by the confidence that the network has placed in
my leadership during this historic time,” Salzberg said.
“Over the years, I have worked closely with Jim Quigley and
admired his commitment to our strong global culture and shared
values, which have brought us to our preeminent position in the
marketplace today. I look forward to leading DTTL, helping grow the
Deloitte network’s businesses and maintaining the relentless focus
on quality and client service that our member firms worldwide
consistently uphold.”
Salzberg previously held the roles of US managing partner and
managing partner of Deloitte’s tax practice. He is a member of
Deloitte’s US board of directors. Salzberg joined Deloitte US
in 1977 and was admitted to the partnership in 1985.
Salzberg’s appointment followed a nomination and member firm
partner ratification process that takes place every four years and
includes all member firms of Deloitte’s global network.
Quigley, who is completing his term, will transition into a
senior client service role as a senior partner in the Deloitte
US.
