Crowe Horwath International, the ninth-largest
accountancy network in the world, has appointed John Stewart as its
International Tax Director.
Stewart is the managing partner of Crowe
Horwath Studio Associato Servizi Professionali Integrati, a large
Italian firm with 650 employees.
Stewart’s global role involves assessing and
enhancing the international tax client service delivery
capabilities of Crowe Horwath International member firms. This
includes monitoring firm growth and the content of training
programmes, evaluating member firm compliance with common tax
practice standards and supervising tax practice inspection
programs.
“John’s previous experience of creating and
building substantial international tax practices will be of great
help to our member firms as they continue to grow their
international tax practices,” Crowe Horwath International chief
executive Frank Arford said.
During his career, Stewart has twice created
and grown significant tax consulting practices. He has also been a
managing partner for a tax, corporate finance, legal and
outsourcing practice at a Big Four firm in Italy for more than
eight years, growing it from 40 to 1,200 people.
Stewart has been a Institute of Chartered
Accountants in England and Wales fellow since 1979 and is a member
of the supervisory board of the Barclays Italian Infrastructure
Fund.
Stewart begins the global role in November and
will continue to be SASPI’s managing partner.
