(FREE) William Seidman, former managing
partner and nephew of BDO Seidman founder Maximillian Seidman, has
died.

Seidman began his career at BDO Seidman in
1949, becoming a partner in the firm’s Michigan office three years
later and eventually managing partner of the firm from 1968 to
1974.

While managing partner, Seidman set meticulous
goals and implemented programmes to take Seidman & Seidman from
a family business to a national public accounting firm.

The firm said one of the most notable
achievements of Seidman’s tenure was a successful expansion
programme based on internal growth, and mergers and
acquisitions.

Over a four-year period, the firm established
more than 20 new offices nationwide and expanded its presence in
another 10
cities.

“He was instrumental in setting the course
that has carried BDO Seidman to where it is today,” BDO Seidman
chief executive Jack Weisbaum said.
