Audit fees cost the UK’s largest charities £72.3m ($91.1m) between 2017/18, increasing by £10.2m ($12.8m) in five years, according to the Charity Financials Audit Spotlight Report 2019. The review of the UK's largest 5000 charities and the accounting firms employed to carry out the required annul audit also showed that 43% of charities have not changed auditor over the last decade although there were 344 auditor changes in the latest financial year when compared to the previous year.
Crowe UK LLP once again top the fee tables earning £6.4m in fees, giving the firm an 8.9% market share while the firms with the most clients are haysmacintyre with 303 clients, followed by Crowe UK LLP with 271 and RSM with 213.
