UK law firm Wragge & Co has
appointed Jane Howard as its head of accounting and actuarial
liability.
Howard joins from Reynolds Porter
Chamberlain where she has been head of accounting and
actuarial liability teams since 2003.

Jane Howard joins Wragge & CoHoward, a judge at this
year’s IAB Awards, has more than 20 years
of experience working with and defending claims involving a
range of financial professionals including auditors, accountants
and actuaries. She specialises in defending claims on network
definition issues, constitutional matters and issues involving the
conduct of member firms.

Howard’s clients include the Big Four and
several global accounting networks. She has acted for nearly
half of the top 30 accounting networks and associations.

Howard is well known in the accounting
industry as one of the world’s leading experts on auditor liability
litigation. She said Wragge & Co has a “first-rate” dispute
resolution practice but isn’t as well known as it should be.

“It already acts for four of the top six
accountancy firms, as well as actuaries, trust managers, lawyers,
surveyors, architects and insurers. There is huge potential for
Wragge & Co to forge a leading reputation for professional
liability work,” she said.

Howard’s appointment takes the total number of
dispute resolution partners to 33.  She is the fourth senior
dispute resolution expert appointed in the past six months.

Hafez partner and head of construction
disputes Anthony Wilson joined as head of international
construction disputes.  Actuarial and pensions litigation
director Ian Gordon also came across from Reynolds Porter
Chamberlain. IT and outsourcing dispute resolution director Patrick
Arben was promoted to the partnership on 1 May.
