Grant Thornton and BPP launch business coaching apprenticeship

By Isabella Colletta

Grant Thornton UK and BPP have announced the launch of a business mentoring apprenticeship, the Coaching and Professional Scheme.

The newly developed scheme includes a 14-month training programme which will allow employees to work with a range of individuals and organisations to develop their professional skills. The programme focuses on creating a practical output from the start and will teach core coaching skills, such as contracting and advanced listening as well as theories of coaching in the workplace and scenario knowledge.

The Coaching and Professional Scheme joins a range of development programmes offered by Grant Thornton in collaboration with leading education providers. The scheme costs £5,000 ($6,630) and eligible organisations will be able to use their Apprenticeship Levy to cover the entire costs of the programme. The first intake will join the programme in October 2020, and will then intake quarterly after that.

Grant Thornton UK partner and people advisory lead Justin Rix said: “We have been heavily involved in the development of the new coaching professional standard and are delighted to be partnering with BPP to deliver this new programme. Coaching skills can play a key role in the success of an organisation, developing a workforce and leadership team who are agile, resilient and engaged. We are really excited to be working with BPP, a leading training provider, bringing together their first-rate expertise in delivering apprenticeship programmes and our extensive practical coaching experience and insight.”

BPP executive director James Hammill also commented on the partnership, saying: “This partnership underlines the development and commitment to producing professionals who can inspire others to do the same. With increased demand for coaching and education we are pleased we can add this to a suite of high demand programmes that are geared towards supporting talent across a range of sectors. It marks BPP’s commitment to provide training for forward thinking organisations who are looking to professionalise their workforce.”
